Abstract:With the popularity of intelligent vehicles, the on-board central control screen has become an information exchange medium frequently used by drivers in driving. In order to obtain the information best layout position of the on-board central control screen, the visual performance of participants of different age groups in different information layout positions of the central control screen was tested experimentally. Through the visual search method, this research designs the difference of age in visual performance under the two conditions of static field of vision and dynamic field of vision, so as to evaluate the effectiveness of different information layout positions in the vehicle central control screen. In the experiment, the simulated on-board central control screen was divided into 6 information layout positions, and the horizontal and vertical central control screen placement modes were set. Taking age and information layout position as independent variables, the reaction time and eye movement data of 26 participants were collected. The results showed that the average search time in the static field was 1 222.76 MS and that in the dynamic field was 1 725.80 MS. At the same time, the elderly group paid more visual attention resources during the experiment. Finally, the following conclusions are drawn: ① Under the static visual field test, the visual performance of the elderly group in the right position of information layout was poor; The visual performance in the lower left, middle and lower parts were good. ② Under the dynamic visual field test, the elderly group will pay more visual attention on the right side of the information layout; The visual performance in the upper left and middle parts were good. It is concluded that with the increase of age, the closer the information to the effective field of vision, the better the visual performance., and the horizontal central control screen is more suitable for the old.
