Abstract:The characteristics of spatial and temporal dynamics of ecosystem health in Guangdong Province from 2009 to 2019 is explored, it can provide data support and theoretical references for the sustainable development of socio-economic and ecosystem health in Guangdong Province. The ecosystem health of Guangdong Province from 2009 to 2019 was evaluated and analyzed using a new multi-indicator evaluation system based on the VOR model coupled with ecosystem values and a least squares optimal combination of weighting methods. A new multi-indicator evaluation system based on the VOR model coupled with ecosystem values of ecosystem services is built to evaluate and analyze the ecosystem health of Guangdong Province from 2009 to 2019, which uses the least squares method to optimize the combination of weighting. The results show that: (1) In the past 11 years, the overall ecosystem health status of Guangdong Province was at the Level 2 of subhealth or below, which had present the spatial distribution characteristics that the northern inland areas were better than the southern coastal areas; (2) The change of ecosystem health level in Guangdong Province in the past 11 years was mainly transformed between Level 2 and Level 3, and the percentage of area in Level 2 of ecosystem health showed an undulating state. The percentage of the area in Level 2 of subhealth was over 50% in 2015, 2016 and 2018, and the ecosystem health was the best; while the percentage of the area in Level 2 of subhealth was less than 30% in 2009-2011 and 2019, and the ecosystem health became worse. (3) In Guangdong Province, the area of areas with improved ecosystem health was 4.79% higher than that of degraded areas in 2009-2019, but the percentage of areas with degraded ecosystem health level increased by 23.05% in 2014-2019 compared with that in 2009-2014, and the ecosystem health deteriorated significantly in 2014-2019, showing a trend from the Level 2 of subhealth to a third generally healthy. The results of the study quantitatively analyze the ecosystem health of Guangdong Province from 2009-2019 in terms of time and space, and propose the corresponding policy recommendations based on the differences in ecosystem health between the north and south regions, which have practical implication for promoting the coordinated development of ecological civilization in Guangdong Province.
