Abstract:The weeknesses of traditional stormwater and wastewater management infrastructures are gradually increasing in the process of rapid urbanization, green infrastructure has been considered as a more sustainable and ideal alternative. The existing researches on green infrastructure planning in the field of stormwater and wastewater management from five aspects: targets formulation, facility type selection, number and scale determination of alternative facilities, site selection and green infrastructure network optimization are summarized, the deficiencies and future research directions as well. The development of related planning research is impeded by the complexity in quantifying the benefits of green infrastructure, threfore the feasible pathway that the establishment of hydroecology coupling models through interdisciplinary and multi-departmental cooperation which explore the interaction mechanism of hydrological processes and ecological processes and support the quantitative research of hydrological, ecological and social comprehensive benefits provided by green infrastructure is pointed out.The necessity of conducting a complete green infrastructure planning research from facility scale to network level respectively is stated. The landscape pattern optimization based on facility scale research as the technical route for green infrastructure network optimization that ensure and enhance the functions of green infrastructure is narrated. The fact that the research field of green infrastructure planning ought to expand to the supply of various ecological services that cover both nature and social perspectives in social-ecology system from the management of stormwater and wastewater management gradually is expounded.
