Abstract:A lot of researchers around the world are researching on after treatment technologies for controlling the emission of pollutants such as SOx and NOx, in order to satisfy the IMO and national regulations. This paper introduced the state of the art of the after treatment technologies for removing SOx and NOx from ship emissions, and proposed a novel integrated technology which was based on available chlorine oxidation enhanced by UV irradiation. In this work, the experimental setup was built and the experimental procedure was designed, and the concerned reaction mechanism was described. The results showed that, the oxidation solution had certain oxidative desulfurization and denitrification capability under the UV radiation environment in the range of pH 3 to 10. Under optimal conditions, NOx removal efficiency reached 61%, and SOx removal efficiency was 100%. It provided a new idea for DeSOx and DeNOx integrated technology. The new integrated desulfurization and denitrification scheme is applicable to the sea-ship environment and provides reference for the study of ship exhaust gas after-treatment technology.
