Abstract:Driver attention allocation is critical to driving safety. Nearly all the existing researches based on driver attention allocation are from qualitative point.S In this paper, from both qualitative and quantitative point, the real vehicle experiment is carried out with the practical road scene using eye tracker. In the experiment, we statistic the driver"s eye movement data from different road environment and driving condition such as straight road section, U-turn section, crosswalk with non-intersection road, overtaking, starting, and parking. Then we analyze the characteristics of attention, fixation duration and gaze area. Finally we obtain the distribution model of attention in different road environment and driving environment, which reveals the characteristics of attention distribution of drivers during driving. The results of this study are of great significance to the improvement of driver safety driving, vehicle assistance system, unmanned driving system and driver training assessment criteria.
