In order to help practitioners evaluate the outcome of cross-section design for urban road and select the best ones, in this paper, a microcosmic evaluation methodology is adopted to evaluate the outcome of cross-section designs, differing from the old evaluation methodology which is macroscopically adopted in the process of transportation planning. Then, a set of evaluation indexes are formed, which can be classified into 4 categories, these are traffic efficiency, safety, land usage effectiveness, and environmental friendliness. Moreover, an example is given to illustrate how to use the new evaluation methodology.
