The rollover phenomenon is the main hazard for LNG storage, and there is few deep study for the mechanism of the rollover porgress in LNG tank, to the best of our knowledge. The physical model and mathmetical model in LNG tank are established, and the rollover progress in 5000m3 LNG tank with initial density difference of 0.5kg/m3 is clearly showed by using Fluent CFD software. It is found that the LNG layers in LNG tank will mix with each other violently because of the density difference exists between the LNG layers under gravity, which is called rollover. By analyzing the calculation results, it can provide a basis for the design of LNG tank and actual production.
