Distance measuring theory and pattern of Precision Distance Measuring Equipment (PDME) are studied. The distance error caused by the amplitude difference of inquiry signal is analyzed. Aiming at IA and FA working patterns, time measuring error caused by the amplitude difference of inquiry signal is studied based on the expression of measuring pulse and judging gate. The distance error is reckoned based on theory of PDME. The distance error is simulated and the results are given.
