Abstract:The pin load distribution of scarfed lap joint was studied using ABAQUS software. The connects between countersunk rivet and sheet, upper and lower sheets were simulated by introducing the static state contact arithmetic. The friction between jointed sheets, the clamping force of the countersunk rivet, interference-fit as well as the boundary conditions of the whole modes were considered comprehensively in the analysis. The calculated results agree well with experiment data. It is proved that using static state contact arithmetic with ABAQUS software to simulate the pin load distribution is feasible. The study showed that reducing the minimum thickness of jointed sheet can average. Meanwhile, the local stress concentration was reduced remarkably.
