Abstract:It made an empirical analysis on the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth by using Granger causality test, unit root rest, co-integration test, error correction model according to the corresponding data from 1985 to 2009 in China. It showed that there was double-direction causality and the long-term stable equilibrium relationship between energy consumption and economic growth. Elasticity coefficient of energy consumption is 0.58. That is to say, if the value of economic growth increases by 1 percent, the energy consumption would increase by 0.58 percent.
