[Abstract] Edge detection is an important technique in image processing. This paper propose an improved edge-detection algorithm of image based on Prewitt's algorithm. The improved algorithm is able to detect edge of image with eight orientation information. It uses image gradient and the relevance of the edge point to identify image edge. This new algorithm will have accurate edge positioning and anti-interference ability
