Abstract:Vivaldi antennas are widely used in radar, wireless communication, direction finding systems and other fields due to their excellent broadband scanning performance. Due to the strong electromagnetic coupling after the Vivaldi antenna unit is arrayed, the array pattern is distorted, causing the beam pointing deviation, which affects the accuracy of angle measurement. Aiming at the problem of the distortion of the array pattern due to mutual coupling between phased array antenna elements, which leads to the deviation of the array antenna beam pointing, a phase calibration method based on the least squares mutual coupling matrix is proposed to correct the beam pointing. A set of 16-element X-band Vivaldi array antennas were used for simulation experiments. The simulation experiment results show that the method in this paper can effectively correct the beam pointing deviation of the Vivaldi antenna array in the case of strong mutual coupling, laying a theoretical foundation for engineering applications.
