Abstract:In order to seek economical and environmentally friendly modified asphalt binders to overcome or mitigate the rutting and cracking of asphalt pavement in Hebei, waste rubber powder (GTR), polyphosphoric acid (PPA) and SBS polymer were selected as modifier adding to the virgin asphalt binder SK90#. The modifier of matrix asphalt is based on a highway in Hebei Province. Based on the consideration of the local construction environment, the high and low temperature performance of different modified asphalt binders were studied based on laboratory testsand mathematical statistics. The properties of the binder were grouped under different aging conditions and different temperature conditions to study the applicability of GTR modified asphalt and PPA modified asphalt in Hebei. The results show that compared with the matrix asphalt, the three modifiers SBS, GTR and PPA have significant effects on the high temperature properties of the the unaged and RTFO aged modified asphalt. In Hebei region. Based on the economic comparison results, when emphasizing the high temperature performance of asphalt pavement, modified asphalt blended with 0.7% PPA (1.2% PPA) and 3% SBS (5% SBS) can be used interchangeably. When emphasizing the low-temperature performance of asphalt pavement, modified asphalt with 8% GTR or 1.2% PPA can be used in Hebei instead of modified asphalt with 5% SBS. The addition of SBS, GTR and PPA modifiers does not have a significant impact on the rutting resistance for the modified asphalt after PAV aging in the middle temperature range (22°C ~ 31°C); compared with the matrix asphalt, the addition of PPA can increase the m value of the asphalt binder , but reduces this value when added GTR or SBS modifiers.
