Abstract:Since the 20th century, China has built many constructions in the north-west, forming huge numbers of slopes. For the extensive existence of loess in the north-west of China, the formed slopes are usually loess slopes, for which earth-removing, retaining wall, anti-sliding piles and anchors are normally used to treat. However, substantial project evidences have proved that these slopes have more of less suffered destruction, which are induced by some factors including the arbitrary decision of design by engineers and the misunderstanding of the superiority of slope treating types. Aiming at these problems, a great number of site investigation were carried out and the investigation data were analyzed to draw the following conclusion. Firstly, the earth-removing treatment can be used to treat loess slopes but needing and good slope greening. Secondly, retaining wall and anti-sliding pile have good adaptability on loess slope. Lastly, anchor’s adaptability on loess slopes is bad, thus is not suggested to use in loess slopes.
