Abstract:Abstract: Objective To explore the fetation adverse effects of fabric softener on mice firstly. Methods The female mice were administered treated by oral gavage with fabric softeners (100, 500 and 1000 mg/kg) during pregnant periods once a day. Reproductive organ weight, maternal body weight, rate of termination of pregnancy and the number of dead embryos as well as visceral histological damage were evaluated. Results The body weight gains of pregnant mice were gradually decreased with the increasing of the dosages of fabric softeners. The livability of fetus in high-dose and medium dose groups was lower than that in the control group. The mean body weight, average body length, tail length significantly decreased. Conclusion Fabric softener had reproductive toxicity in pregnant and fetal mice.
